New Text New Theatre Festival 5

GalataPerform opens the season with New Text New Theatre Festival 5! 

The theme of this year’s festival is “And What About Happiness?”

The festival will take place from September 29 to October 3, 2016.

For the first time, the New Text New Theatre Festival which has been ongoing since 2011 will be held in cooperation with independent theatres. The festival which is supported by theatre companies such as Altıdan Sonra Theatre, Ikinci Kat, Talimhane Theatre, Emek Sahnesi, will meet the audience with the stage reading of plays written during the 2015-2016 GalataPerform Scriptwriting Workshops.

The opening of the festival will take place on Thursday, September 29 with the stage reading of French playwright Ronan Cheneau’s “Cannibals” at the French Cultural Centre, with the collaboration of the French Cultural Institute.

The theme of the plays coming out as part of the festival are taking shape around the concept of “And What About Happiness?” set by Ronan Cheneau.

There will also be readings of the plays about Istanbul that were produced by young Dutch writers from the De Tekstsmederij company in Amsterdam. They were hosted by GalataPerform in June 2016.
