“I’ll start by killing the choir.
They shall not continue to tell the story.
I want to stop the flow of history, to get out of the drama.
To dominate the flow of time, the fate of the world.”
Written by the rising star of Swedish theater, Iranian-born writer Athena Farrokhzad, “Morality According to Medea” opens the issues of “woman” and “morality” for discussion through the myth of Medea. The author describes her play as follows: “As a woman, a mother, and a refugee, I tried to understand “Medea” through these perspectives. The play, which presents the concept of “Morality”, one of the oldest debates of humanity, as a character, invites the audience to ask more questions than to seek answers.
“Morality According to Medea” met its audience as a play-reading event with the support of the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul and the Swedish Arts Council.
