New Text New Theatre Festival 6

The Festival That Fulfils “Dreams” Begins!

The New Text New Theatre Festival 6 which has the distinction of being the first scriptwriting festival in Turkey, will take place between October 4-8, 2017 at GalataPerform, Sahne KHAS and the French Cultural Centre.

At the opening of the festival on October 4, Sanem Öge will direct the play “If Girls Could Kill” by Swiss playwright, director and actor Asa Lindholm, who was invited with the support of the Swiss Consulate.

5 Ekim’de Yeşim Özsoy’un yönettiği, Ayşe LebrizBerkemÖzgün Çoban ve Oğuz Öztekin’in oynadığı, Serdar Kurt’un yazdığı “Ayışığında Gökkuşağı” adlı oyun, GalataPerform’da prömiyer yapacak.

“Rainbow in Moonlight”, which was directed by Yeşim Özsoy, written by Serdar Kurt and in which Ayşe LebrizBerkemÖzgün Çoban and Oğuz Öztekin act, will premiere at GalataPerform on October 5.

The theme of this year’s festival, which is shaped around a different theme every year, was set as “dreams” by French playwright Samuel Gallet. On Friday, October 6 at 19:00, Gallet’s play “Iskandar War”, directed by Mark Levitas, will meet audiences as a stage reading. In addition, the newly founded New Text New Theatre Scriptwriters and Directors Union will join the Q&A with the director after the stage reading. “Theatre and dreams” will be the main themes during the interview.

On Saturday, the 7th of October and Sunday, the 8th of October, the stage readings of the New Text New Theatre Workshop participants take place. Can ÖzdenCihan ÇakanHande Öykü EkmenTolga ÇıklaçiftçiŞirin Gürbüz and Havva Karataş are among the authors whose plays will be read this year. While Berfin ZenderlioğluSezgi MengiSelen Uçer, Erdem Kaynarca are some of the directors of the stage readings, there are new directors training in the New Text New Theatre Directing Workshop.

The festival is hosting a special project this year. Samatya Monologues, the play created by Ahmet Sami Özbudak with the playwrights of the New Text New Theatre Advanced Playwriting Workshops by observing and hunting stories in the Samatya region following the “Balat Museum of Monologues” which premiered during New Text New Theatre Festival 5, will meet with audiences on Sunday, 8 October.

The New Text New Theatre Festival which keeps going on with individual supports in its sixth year and maintains its stability and independency, while once again presenting original texts to audiences and theatre professionals, sparks new discussions, exchange of ideas and mobility by conducting Q&A’s, special workshops and events after each play with the writers and directors.
