The “Body and City” themed festival will begin on June 10 with the stage reading performed by Özen Yula.
The “Third New Text New Theatre Festival” with a theme of “Body and City” will be held on 10-14 June.
According to the written statement by GalataPerform, the festival will begin on June 10 with the Play.City Project which was launched as part of the Tandem Cultural Managers Exchange Program, in partnership with GalataPerform/New Text New Theatre and Lublin Cultural Centre/Konfrontacie Theatre Festival.
In the first leg of Play.City in which the plays three writers, Polish, Ukranian and Turkish, developed on Istanbul will be presented as stage readings in Istanbul and Lublin, “The Worst of Pretty Planets’ by Özen Yula will meet with art lovers. The play which will be staged by the author herself in Pera Museum tells an “Istanbul smelling city story”.
The festival program includes three staged readings and three theatrical readings, two separate projects that are “Testimonies” and “Play.City”, an interview about “Body and City”, the festival’s theme and a Scriptwriting Workshop with Özen Yula.
Some of the supporters of the festival are; the General Art Director of GalataPerform Yeşim Özsoy Gülan, playwright and director Özen Yula, actress Selen Uçer, Mine Çerçi who staged plays with Clout Theatre abroad, the General Art Director of GNLEV Theatre Turgay Doğan, actor and director Enginay Gültekin, Eyüp Emre Uçaray who is one of the founders of the 2. Kat Theatre and the founder of Theatre Barbone, actor and director Barış Kıralıoğlu.
A limited number of combined tickets that will allow participation to all events (including the play “Language” which is a part of the festival) will be sold. The combined tickets are 40 liras and can be obtained from Mybilet and GalataPerform counters.
While the fee for play readings and stage readings are set as 10 liras, the tickets will go on sale at Moda Stage and can be bought from the GalataPerform box office.
The admission prices for “Language” will be 35 liras for adults, 20 liras for students, events that are a part of Play.City will be free. The Scriptwriting Workshop with Özen Yula will be held with a limited number of participants.
